Comments on the rating in web-analytics-tools.com

All characteristics in the upper lists for which are also indicated rating points are used for the calculation of the 'index of completeness'.
The percentual 'completeness' relates to the maximum of points on each criteria.
For example: The maximum sum of points in the category 'Segmentation' is 38, for 'Campaigns' it's 23.
Most of the characteristics are filled with 'yes', 'partially' or 'no'. A 'yes' results in the maximum amount of points, a 'partially' equals in half of the maximum, a 'no' in '0'.
In this way all six areas of rating: 'Segmentation', 'Dashboard', 'Tests & Surveys', 'Campaigns', 'Acquisition of data' and 'System' are calculated as percentages, like they are visualized in the radar charts on each profile.

The aggregated rating - the 'Index of completeness' - on the other side is not a percentual value, because results are not simply summed up, but every area is weighted. Currently like this:

The weight of the area 'Campaigns' is 0.8.
The weight of the area 'Tests & Surveys' is 1.8.
The weight of the area 'Segmentation' is 2.
The weight of the area 'System' is 1.
The weight of the area 'Data aquisition' is 1.5.
The weight of the area 'Dashboard' is also 1.5.

It is evident, that the result of the overall rating does not show the 'best' solution, but the most complete one according to the used points and weights.

Companies looking for an appropriate web analytics system may use the rating results as orientation, but the decision should rely on individual parameters and needs.

This database of collected systems and data may help - beyond marketing trends and buzzwords - to provide transparency and comparability as a basis for proper decisions.
